Christmas is quickly gathering steam and is about to launch into the full festive swing. We have suitably “Griswalded” our house with rows and rows of flashing lights, icicles, snowflakes, festive signs, a helicopter (yes, you read that right!), lasers, an inflatable Rudolph, Frosty and of course the giant fat man himself, Santa reigns supreme.
It is that time of year where you will hear me loudly singing my favourite carol “All I Want for Christmas is More Camera Gear”! It’s also that time to sit back and think about the past year. 2017 has been a busy one for us with the launch of Quarrie Aerial Photography (QAP) and Quarrie Photography Group (QPG), plus loads of planning in the background for 2018.
As we run out this year we still have QP covering the Bushfire season. Some areas across the state declared early starts to the season, but now a bit of rain may have delayed the onset of the fires. We have covered the official launch of the 2017-18 bushfire season at RFS headquarters and the naming ceremony for the DC-10 water bombing aircraft ‘Nancy Bird’.
We’ve been busy with portrait and model shoots this year. With the expansion of our mobile lighting equipment our location shoots are getting adventurous and exciting, resulting in happy models with expanding portfolios.
Planning for next year’s events is well underway. Our regular followers have already seen a teaser of what we are up to. Have you seen our WANTED posters? We are working with some fantastic people on a special secret mission. It’s big and bold, and all will be revealed by May 2018! Super excited and can’t wait!
In recent days we met up with Colour Coatings at Blacktown to discuss one of our new product ideas for 2018, and we are thrilled they are on board to assist us in a big way where needed.
Another exciting step forward next year is entering into the public speaking area. A couple of months ago I was approached to be a guest speaker at a special event with other photographers. The date is now confirmed, so we’ve locked it in Eddie! More on that as the new year begins to unfold..
QUARRIE SPORTS PHOTOGRAPHY
Next year will see QSP on a two week assignment away from home. Some of our cluey followers may well guess what this gig is. As with all big projects nothing is ever definite until you’re on location, but the planning is already doing my head in and we are still over three months away. This will certainly tick one big event off my Bucket List. Although that list always seems to be growing!
The football season is underway too. Given the fact that the National Football competitions (A-League, W-League and Youth League) are played in summer, I actually get to shoot my favourite sport all year and not just seasonally. You’ve gotta love that!
QUARRIE AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY
QAP is our quiet achiever. We’ve been working away in the background planning flights with some new and exciting clients. Aerial photography with drones is here to stay and is taking off in more ways than one. It really is an exciting time to be part of a new industry. Keep an eye out as this little branch of our business takes off in 2018.
QUARRIE PHOTOGRAPHY GROUP
QPG is really the cornerstone of our businesses, supporting all our branches and helping everyone to connect and collaborate.
QPG has developed our working relationship with Para Mobility. Over the year we have been on location covering events and working with them and their clients to document the heartwarming success stories. 2018 is looking to be a big year for Para Mobility and QPG.
Still expanding and creating new partnerships, we’ve agreed on a new venture with the Museum of Fire Penrith. Partnering with the Museum will culminate in an exciting event in May 2018. We have a lot of work to put together in the meantime, but it’s certainly going to be worth the challenge.
So now the countdown is on for the arrival of the Jolly Old Man in his sleigh. I’m hoping for some new camera toys under the tree come Christmas morning. What are you wishing for?
We take this time to reflect on our past year. It’s been a great year having achieved so much and kicked lots of goals. It’s also the time to look ahead. 2018 is certainly shaping up to be a major year for us!
We would like to wish all our followers, friends and business partners, employees and families a fantastically Merry Christmas. We look forward to continuing to cover your events and activities throughout 2018. May your year be prosperous and entertaining with good health.
